Byron Shire Community Exchange (BSCE) is a community based 'energy trading'
group who use an online alternative money system. This group is only for
residents of the beautiful district of Byron Shire including Byron Bay,
Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Bangalow. In the south we go down to
Lennox Head, west to Clunes and Goonengerry and north to Wooyong. We are
a growing network of individuals who exchange or trade products and skills
using a LETS unit (Local Energy Trading System) that we call the 'Eco'
(E).

Currency called ‘QBs’. They also use a paper currency.
Fifteen+ years old, membership 22 in 2003. QBC is reinventing itself.
Website plans include: an up to date trading directory with membership
numbers and balances.
Newsletters are emailed where possible, rather than posted. Hosted a
visit by the 3 economics professors from Kobe Uni, March 2003, and the
Korean group mid 2003.

We produce quarterly newsletters which also advise members of the venues
for Trade Days. These are well attended and visitors can join on the
day. Our "accounts" are all online now so members have up
to the minute information on what is available from whom. And also can
access their personal accounts to check balances and make electronic
payments for trades.

Area: Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Dungog, Pt Stephens, etc.
Hunter LETS is an amalgamation of the systems which used to exist in these
areas: Newcastle, Maitland, Cessnock and Dungog, many of whose members
joined Hunter after those systems closed. Membership spreads as far north
as Tambar Springs and Barrington and south to residents of Sydney who
have property in the Hunter.
We produce quarterly newsletters which also advise members of the venues
for Picnic and Trade Days, themes: Red Faces, Games, Music, etc. These
are well attended and visitors can join on the day. New directories are
produced twice a year, with updates in the quarterly newsletters.
HUNTER VALLEY WINE COUNTRY LETS

Hunter Valley.
Joining Fee/Renewal - NIL - You will only be debited 20 Grapes
per year to help with promotion/advertising costs, 1000 Grapes credit
to start trading immediately.
Currency - is called "Grapes" to represent the beautiful
Hunter Valley wine country that we live in in the Hunter Valley.
Levies - NO levies are charged to buy or sell.
Supported By - The administrator on a full time basis 7 days a
week and is done so completely voluntary.
We
produce newsletters and updates on a regular basis. Accounts & listings
are also on line to allow members to have up to date information at all
times. We will be holding regular trade days, theme nights, promotions
and family picnics along the way.
This is only a new group and all members are welcome to join. Come trade,
promote and create a community locally.

Former coordinator wrote in 7/2005 that shop and office closed in 2002,
but 20-30 members might still be trading with occasional market days.

members Marion Syratt and Ted Lyneham... Insurance difficulties led
to most meets being at individual member’s homes.

Began in 1993. Merged with local permaculture group in 1998.
Area: the City of Wagga Wagga, Junee, Coolamon, The Rock and surrounds.
As the geographical area is so large more members would boost trading
opportunities. Groups hold trading days in their regions. Seed swap usually
held in conjunction with AGM in September. Around 30 members September
2003.
